Overview: House2Home is an e-commerce website that sells general home decor items and accessories, helping users build confidence in their purchases while saving time and money. This project follows Google’s 5 Day Sprint.
Role: UI/UX Designer, User Testing
Tools: Figma, Miro, Draw.io, Excel, Pencil & Paper
Work Fast, Word Smart
The main goal of this sprint is to produce solutions. Most problems already have a solution, taken and reiterated based on use to use cases.
After all, what is the point in reinventing the wheel? We want to be as efficient as possible while going through the sprint. All we have to do is figure out what type of wheel we want and how we want to use it.
During the sketching phase, it is important to do research on solutions that have already been created and think about how they help users meet their goals.

Crazy 8 and Critical Screens
I have created eight screens that I would imagine the customers would want by limiting unnecessary information when it comes to shopping.
This is done by only focusing on a specific theme that will lessen the need to scroll through too many products.

StoryBoarding
Since this is a sprint, I created a simple, linear user flow that the user will take as a new user for House2Home.
They will start out on the website’s homepage, follow-up by a questionnaire and then a store page that will be tailored based on their results.

Prototype
I created the prototype within a day based on the design sprint.
To keep up with the time constraint, I reused existing design solutions from other websites and adjusted the designs based on the criteria of House2Home.
Feedback and Iterations
The Critical Chart shows how users react and performed on each category.
1 - being the worst with users either not understanding or cannot finish the task.
5 - being the best with users having an overwhelming positive reaction and can finish the task easily.
Issue 1: There were two rating systems: style points and user reviews. Style points lets users rate how well the product matches up with the theme that the user is going for. However, this was not clear or was confusing for new users.
Solution: Have one rating and sub-ratings that rates the product based on theme, pricing, and quality.
Issue 2: Recommendation page needed more clarity as users did not know what it was based off on.
Solution: Add a filter that lets users view/change their recommendation page based on reviews, themes, or product requirements.
Issue 3: Users wanted more filters for the shopping page to fit their needs while looking for products.
Solution: Added more filter options.
Outcome
Users overall had positive feedback for the House2Home website. The design was simple and easy to understand. The biggest highlight would probably be the questionnaire, as users had express interest in using it to exploring self or other theme possibilities that they have not thought before.
Key Takeaways
Understanding perfection is not the key for this sprint is important, but progress and completion is.
There is no need to create anything new in the sprint. The main purpose is to reuse existing ideas to our leverage.
Knowing which task to focus on is important. The design does not need to be pixel perfect as we are focusing on a working product.
